We have several local makerspaces participating in Gulf Coast MakerCon this year, one of which is Tampa’s community gem, THE HIVE , a 10,000 sq. ft. public community innovation center and makerspace located on the 3rd floor of the west building in the John F. Germany library.
Christopher Brackett, Senior Library Technical Assistant, tells us a little about this great public space here.
__________
THE HIVE is comprised of several areas that emphasize creativity, collaboration, and coworking.
We offer a variety of staff led classes, such as Adobe CC, Arduino, 3D modeling, CNC milling, and sewing. Anyone is welcome to attend programs and events scheduled in The HIVE, although seating limits may apply.
Bookable spaces and equipment include 3D printers, flexible meeting space, media:scape, arts center, robotics center, and recording studio. Guests must have a valid Hillsborough County Public Library card to schedule use of bookable spaces and equipment.
THE HIVE is not a traditional quiet library space, so expect a buzz of activity when you visit!
Visit TheHive.hcplc.org for more information.
______
And come see some of their great tools and resources at Gulf Coast MakerCon on April 18th!
