Meet the Makers: Gamers on the Edge

Hero for KidsWe tinkered with the idea of a Tabletop Gaming area last year, and this year, with the help of Pinellas ComicCon and MakerCon, we’re expanding the area to include everything from comics to classic arcade games,  cards, board games and video games.  Gamers on the Edge is one of our ComicCon exhibitors, and we asked Angel Miranda, who heads up the group, to tell us a bit more about their Gaming with a Cause effort.

GCMC: Who are and what do you make?

Angel Miranda, of Gamers on the Edge

AM: We’re Gamers On The Edge and we believe in “Gaming with a Cause”. We believe in using gaming in order to “Make a better community”. We believe in Making a difference.  What better way to make a difference in the life of others, than by doing something you enjoy.

GCMC: Why do you think what you do is important and worth doing?

AM: We have donated over $8,000 to All Children’s Hospital and seeing the kids and families they help is a reward in itself.

GCMC: What are you bringing to Gulf Coast MakerCon?

AM: TV and gaming system in order to run some all day Gaming with a Cause. Also a banner for display and an item to raffle to benefit All Children’s Hospital.

GCMC: Will folks be able to do anything at your booth?

AM: Yes, play a one on one video game with other participants

GCMC: Why should folks come out to a maker festival?

AM: To quote the great Figment (from Disney) To see why “Imagination works the best when it’s set free.”

GCMC: What’s so great about making stuff?

AM:It releases the creative child within us.
