Invention is the heart and soul of any maker event, that Inventive Spirit that we celebrate made whole, visible and viable through the ingenuity and hard work of curious and resourceful problem solvers. Terry Nehring is one of those problem solver, founder and president of TRN Industries, LLC, bringing his recent invention, StoreHitch™, to Gulf Coast MakerCon 2015. We asked Terry to tell about himself and what he’s bringing to our maker festival.
GMCM: Who are you and what do you make?
TN: My name is Terry Nehring, I am the founder and president of TRN Industries, LLC. I have invented a new patent pending product called StoreHitch™.
GCMC: Why do you make it?
TN: StoreHitch™ is a device that mounts to a travel trailer frame and provides secured place to store their weight distribution trailer hitch. This type of trailer hitch consists of 2 torsion bars & a ball mount and is a very bulky and heavy item.
GCMC: Why do you think what you’ve made is important, useful or worth doing?
TN: Currently there is no such device on the market so people have to store their hitch inside the camper, in the truck, or leave it unsecured on the outside of the camper. StoreHitch™ solves this issue, thus solving the hassle of where to put the heavy hitch went not pulling the camper.
GCMC: What are you bringing to Gulf Coast MakerCon?
TN: The StoreHitch™ prototype device along with the 3 main different types of weight distribution hitch systems.
GCMC: Will folks be able to do anything at your booth?
TN: They will be able to try out StoreHitch™ hitch storage system and be able to get information on how to be included on the pre-sale list. I encourage questions and comments about my invention.
GCMC: Why should folks come out to a maker festival?
TN: It gives people the opportunity to see what local inventors have designed and to be able to speak with inventors who have gone through the process of creating an invention and how the patent process works.
GCMC: What’s so great about making stuff?
TN: Seeing a problem and figuring out a solution to solve the problem. In addition, with any luck turning it into a profitable product.
We’re proud that Terry Nehring is among our great Gulf Coast inventors, and we’re looking forward to seeing his StoreHitch™ prototype, and hope you are, too! You can meet Terry and see the StoreHitch™ at Gulf Coast MakerCon this Saturday, April 18th, at the Florida Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
