Meet the Maker: Brian Bombei, of Coaster Modeling Enthusiasts of FL

12108086_1007833282596090_947023373343035506_nBrian Bombei, the founder of Coaster Modeling Enthusiasts of Florida, makes something big – really big: roller coaster models out of K’Nex!  He told us a bit more about what he does and why he does it.

I founded Coaster Modeling Enthusiasts of Florida (CMEF) as the state’s first physics-10320502_680760961969992_5019214597001557295_nbased building group whose mission is to inspire the next generation of engineers using hands-on building. I have spent over nine years developing my skills at designing and building roller coaster models, and through CMEF and I have exhibited the models at a variety of statewide STEM events.

I’ve built launchers, gigacoasters, inverteds, and many more styles. The coaster models consist of over 15,000 K’Nex pieces, with hundreds of hours of passion and patience going into each model.

You can see more of Brian’s coaster model videos on Brian’s CMEF Facebook page and on his website at

Or better yet, come out to Gulf Coast MakerCon on Saturday, April 9, and see his fantastic work firsthand,  and up close!
