April Aguiar of Zuri Crafting specializes in some pretty niche fashion accessories. Check it out!
GCMCC: What do you make?
AA: I make nerd/geek fashion hair bows and headbands, with the occasional bowtie. I also like hand painting wine glasses and shoes, though those are offered on a custom order basis.
GCMCC: Why do you make it?
AA: I have always enjoyed being crafty. I started embracing my love of geek by hand painting shoes for my wedding and kind of expanded from there. I mostly made products for gifts, but was inspired to offer my artistry to the public by family and friends. I have now expanded by crafts to hair bows and headbands as I enjoy matching my accessories to my clothes and figured I’m not the only one out there.
GCMCC: What are you bringing to showcase?
AA: I have a wide variety of hair bows, ranging from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel, DC, and various others. I will also be bringing a selection of hand painted wine glasses that I recently completed. Custom orders can also be made.
GCMCC: Why do you believe Gulf Coast maker and Comic Con is important?
AA: It’s a great way to get your name out there and bring products to people that are maybe not so easy to find. You can also take inspiration from people and perhaps bring it to your craft. It’s also fun to meet people that have similar interests to yourself.
