We’ve got an awesome line up of presenters and ongoing programs and activities happening throughout the day at Gulf Coast Maker & Comic Con 2018.  Here’s the line up!

SPC Seminole Library Children’s department – make & take crafts throughout the day

Deconstruction ZoneMakers Market throughout the day – Youth can enjoy disassembling electronic devices while parents shop in the Makers Market!

The Night Journey – Experimental Game10-12:45pm Digitorium
Try out one of the first experimental art games ever created. It uses video and game technologies to tell the universal story of an individual’s journey towards enlightenment.

Belly dance meets cosplay this year theme is Disney Join DJ and the gang as Jasmine, Belle, Snow white, Tinker bell, Merida , Cinderella and the Little Mermaid

Kevin Daniels: Burgers and Blades: Nerds in business11:00 AM – UP 158
Ever wanted to get into business for yourself as a nerd or geek? I have and I want to share those experiences with the group and discuss the ups and downs of running a restaurant, Waypoint 6 tavern & geekery and stage combat stunt team the Rogues Theater.

Laura Spence: STEM Challenges + Comic Strip Creations = Sign Me Up! – 11:00 AM – UP 156
Do you like a good challenge? Come participate in this fun and engaging workshop where you will complete 2 STEM hands-on challenges and create a STEM comic strip all while learning about the Pinellas County Schools STEM Academy program and their Engineering Design Process. Each participant will walk away with some STEM freebees! Target Audience: Elementary/middle school students and their families.

Mark Muncy: Eerie Florida – 12:00 PM -UP 154
Join author Mark Muncy as he discusses the myths, monsters and legends from the Dark Side of the Sunshine State as told in the bestselling book, “Eerie Florida” from The History Press.

Mike Davis: Science Show – 1pm -Digitorium
Mike Davis, Academic Department Chair for Natural Science at SPC, has performed for more than 100,000 people with experiments that blow up, change color, glow in the dark, bubble, and fizz. You see some funny and engaging experiments that are good for scientists of all ages.

Tiffany Rizzano: Really Live Literature Series – 1:30 – 2:45pm – UP 154 – Improv Group Performs Books

Chuck Stephens – Modular synth improvisation – 1:30pm – Nature Preserve Pavilion

Tony Mecca: Breaking into the feature film and game industry, an open Q&A – 2:00 PM Digitorium
Feature film and video game animation veteran Tony Mecca (X-men Days of Future Past, Rio 2, Furious 7, Snow White and the Huntsman etc.) will host an open Q&A detailing his journey working on over 5 triple A games and over 11 feature films. Tony also teaches animation at 2 world renowned animation schools and will answer any questions students or professionals have about working in the industry.

Aaron Knowles: Intro to Costuming and Cosplay – 2:00 PM – UP 156
Want to learn how to cosplay? Want to learn how make your own costume? Here is how you can start, what tools you can use, tricks of the trade, and ways to not spend all of your money. From sewing to 3D printing to cardboard and pepakura. We cover all of the basics.

Matt Fahy:  Therapeutic Roleplay Gaming– Panel
Therapeutic roleplaying groups targeting social skills, mood, and behavior management. Therapeutic roleplaying is therapy that’s fun and engaging. Our parent’s keep saying how much they love knowing their kids are getting the help they need without having to drag their kids in to therapy. The kids want to attend and are invested in their characters and the game. The game world provides a safe space to engage in subjects such as conflict resolution, loss, emotional regulation, and building confidence.

Celebrating repair through all-ages do-it-together hands-on fix-n-learn community disassembly and discovery – round table chat
